[Paul has spent quite a bit of time in the Seven Lakes area at this point. It's fortunate for him that he's used to colder weather; otherwise he'd be faring much worse than before. It seems the endurance training is strengthening Paul's resistances, so he's glad to be getting something out of this. Right now he's south of where Pryce has set up camp, mostly on patrol and going through more endurance training both with the climate and the (now full) mask that was swiftly eating up various memories of his, both from the island and from home.
Most of his Pokemon are out training on their own, still presently stronger than Pryce's own, allegedly. Paul's pushing for some mid-70s peaks in terms of levels today, assuming that will be enough to stall the inevitable raid on the mountain. He seems rather satisfied, though his expressions are completely invisible now thanks to the mask. Everything seemed to be going according to plan, but Paul really had no idea the inevitable raid was coming in varying waves rather than all at once.]

[Paul's returning to the mountains a bit earlier than he planned to. Back to Pryce's headquarters, where he approaches the designated tent of Pryce's resident and kneels down before it.]

[With Christmas and Silver's birthday out of the way, Paul followed up on his word to Ash and immediately set off on his own to track down the Mask of Ice, almost certain that the old man hadn't left the island and that he would most likely be in the Seven Lakes area of Awesome Island. He left a note for his family and loved ones, saying he was merely going out to train extensively for his match with Red. No need to worry any of them with his affairs, after all.
Paul's marching through the snow, seemingly stiffer and sterner than he usually is. Of course, for the whole journey, he had been wearing the half-mask given to him by Chermaine. Unwilling to wait for Pryce to show his face again, Paul decided to take matters into his own hands. He seems almost inhuman at this point to endure a blizzard up in the dangerous mountains so effortlessly. It's simply his determination to achieve his goal: join the Mask of Ice under false pretenses in order to destroy them from within.
No, he had not told anyone about his sudden change of plans. Paul had been wearing the mask for a while now, trying his best to adjust to its influence. As a result, Paul didn't feel quite as sharp-minded as he usually was, but the determination was enough to constantly remind Paul why he was going all this way so far from the CMA, and why he was tormenting himself with the mask to begin with.]

[At his own request (well, partially, anyway - Reggie had a say in this, too), Paul and his brother decided to trek up the mountains in the Seven Lakes area of Awesome Island to vacation for a few days. Getting away from it all is quite literal in this sense, as they're hundreds (thousands?) of miles away from the CMA. Up in the cold, snowy mountains, the brothers would find the climate much more similar to their native region. Alongside Paul, his newly-evolved Arcanine is running along, looping around in circles around his trainer whenever possible. A Rhyhorn is much more calmly following along, and in the lead is Paul's Weavile, who's the designated snow plow for this journey. Originally, Paul planned not to take him along, but Weavile begged endlessly to come along, and then Paul remembered this was the area where Weavile had stayed during that month or so when they were separated. And apparently Weavile knew of some awesome place for the brothers to take shelter in a harsh climate such as this. Weavile seems to know the area like the back of his hand, not once seeming lost or confused.]
... Unbelievable. After all this time, Weavile's finally become an asset since we came to this island. What are the odds?
